Shortly before 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, detectives were inside a convenience store in the 3600 block of Wilkens Avenue when they spotted a man stealing before getting into an SUV according to a spokesperson from the Baltimore Police Department.

As the man was attempting to flee with his stolen merchandise, he struck two officers with the SUV, prompting one to fire his weapon at the suspect vehicle.

It is unclear if he was hit by the gunfire.

Paramedics were called to the store to take both officers to area hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries, officials said. No additional information was provided by the police regarding the driver.

Anyone with information regarding the man or vehicle has been asked to call detectives at the department by calling (410) 396-2100.
